In this article, Josh talks about the reasons why people are most unhappy with their thighs. He says that your unhappiness with your thighs is due to three things:
He says, that whether you have too much fat on your thighs or you have too much muscle, the solution is the same. Run. It's the only sure-fire solution to lose the fat on your thighs - marathon cardio (or roadwork) is the same thing that boxers do right before a big fight. Long periods (45 minutes to an hour) of low intensity running will tone your leg muscles and make them work harder than traditional leg exercises.
Now, I'm not a fan of running. I used to be able to run a 6:45 mile when I was doing double conditioning for soccer and tennis, but when I stopped playing sports in high school I all but abandoned running. Which means that I'm horribly bad at running now. I mean, I'm in shape, but I'm not in good shape... So tonight, at the gym, I ran my first mile that I've run in years and I ran it in just over 10 minutes. Am I proud of this time? No. But will I get better? Yes. It felt good to finish my mile and I even kept running for a while after.
Lately I've been feeling really frustrated with my body because I made the mistake of weighing myself last week and I was disappointed with the number that I got. But I refuse to let myself get down about my progress - didn't I just say that it's not about being a certain weight, it's about being comfortable with the skin you're in. So I'm going to do two things: I'm keeping my old routine and adding some new stuff to it - I'm going to start adding more cardio (specifically running, kick boxing, and kettle-bell classes). I want to be healthy, fit, and happy, which means pushing myself harder!

Slowly but surely getting there, one day at a time.
