I am amazed at how fast time has gone! By next week we will be starting the month of December, which marks a whole 3 months since Derek left - how incredible that we've made it this far! Today, I was happy and joyful and I loved life. Today, I woke up with a smile because I was reminded how wonderful my life is by my amazing husband last night. So, tonight, I'm going to list a few of the things that I love about Derek. It's cheesy and unforgivingly cliche, but I'm going to anyways just because I want to and it will make me smile.
A few reasons why I love Derek:
He is my other half in every sense of the word. He reminds me to be myself, no matter how scary life gets. He pushes me to work harder at everything I do. He is proud of me. He is honest. He is the kindest person I know. He is the only person that understands me completely. He knows how to make me laugh when I'm in tears. He pushes my buttons and isn't afraid to play rough with me. He gives the best back massages. He calls me whenever he can, just to remind me that he's still here. He reminds me that true love is real. He calls me "mama bear" and he lets me call him "papa san". He loves chips and beer. He enjoys a good hockey game and a better baseball game. He keeps my side of the bed warm. He makes sure the kitchen is clean before we go to bed. He vacuums all the time. He takes me to the animal shelter on rainy days. He lets me cook whatever I want and he will eat it without complaint. He always walks on the outside if we're walking on a road, so I don't get hit by a car. He holds my hand all the time. He is unbelievably tall. He lets me teach him things. He is patient with me when I have my "dumb blonde" moments. He makes me laugh until I can't breathe. He makes faces at me just to make me smile. He gives me unexpected kisses when I'm cooking dinner. He gives the best hugs. He takes me to the soccer fields when I'm having a bad day, so I can get my frustration out on the ball. He loves talking to me about everything. He is interested in the world and all that there is within it. He sings to me. He gets me coffee in the morning on his way home from work, just because. He likes country music. He takes me on hikes and laughs when my stumpy legs fail me. He looks good in uniform. He is my best friend in the whole world. He loved me through a computer screen for 6 months before we even met. He taught me how to hit a baseball and how to skate (kind of). He tells me when I'm being a pain in the neck. He lets me tell him when he's driving me crazy. He has an insanely beautiful smile. He has the deepest, darkest, brown eyes. He is always clean and he always smells good. He is strong. He helps me put things away when I get groceries. He plans our future together. He makes promises and keeps them. He drives like a maniac. He cuddles me, even though I get too hot for him. He always kisses me before we go to sleep. He lets me watch "Animal Cops" in the morning during breakfast. He is intuitive. He is a loving son and an adoring husband. He is tough. He is a hard worker. He is driven to be successful and has his priorities straight. He and I have dance parties in our back room when we're bored. He rubs my back and plays with my hair when I'm sick. He is kind. He has the nicest handwriting of any guy I've ever met. He sends me songs that remind him of me. He takes me to nice places for Valentines Day. He likes how short I am. He laughs at my corny jokes. He tells me he loves me all the time. He has nicknames for me that I, actually, really like. He has a love for all things hilarious. He understands me when I start speaking in sounds. He held my gaze while he got on the bus for deployment, and made sure I saw him wave as they drove off. He promised to love me every day, of every week, of every month, for the rest of our lives. He can look at me and know exactly how I'm feeling and why. He knows when to let me win. He likes that I'm not afraid to try new things. He is open to different experiences. He likes going on adventures. He loves cheese more than I do. He lets me eat ice cream straight from the container. He can quote almost any movie. He does a great impersonation of "Step Brothers". He loves me no matter what mood I'm in. He makes me feel important. He reminds me that I'm stronger than I think I am. He reminds me that I am loved. He makes me feel like I'm the most beautiful girl in the world. He chose me.
I could go on and on, but I'll only say one last thing before I go:
I am one lucky girl.
